In Islamabad, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved a relief proposal, allowing installment-based electricity bill collection for consumers using up to 200 units per month. However, relief for those consuming up to 400 units was rejected. The final approval for bill installment collection rests with the federal cabinet, potentially benefiting 4 million consumers. Had relief been extended to 400 units, 32 million consumers could have benefited. The IMF emphasized cracking down on electricity and gas theft and improving recovery.
