Title: Pakistan Gears Up for Asia Cup Opener Against Nepal

Pakistan is all set to kick off the Asia Cup with a clash against Nepal in Group-A on Wednesday. The match is scheduled to take place at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) unveiled the playing XI for the opening match via X (formerly known as Twitter). The team will be led by captain Babar Azam and vice-captain Shadab Khan. Other notable players in the lineup include Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Rizwan as the wicketkeeper, Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf.

Babar Azam, the Pakistani skipper, emphasized that they won't underestimate their rivals in the Asia Cup. He spoke during a press conference, expressing the team's commitment to maintaining their winning momentum from the recent series against Afghanistan.

Babar Azam shared his leadership perspective, mentioning how he aimed to shift the team's mindset when he became captain. He stressed that the team's focus is on collective success rather than individual achievements.

Commenting on the team's current form, Babar Azam acknowledged their strength but also highlighted the room for improvements before the World Cup.

While the entire event taking place in Pakistan would have been preferable, Babar Azam expressed the significance of the Pakistan-India match and the team's determination to perform well.

This matchup marks several firsts, with Nepal making their debut in the tournament and Multan hosting the event for the first time. The excitement is palpable in the picturesque Multan Cricket Stadium, with both teams expected to receive enthusiastic support from local fans.

Pakistan enters the Asia Cup as the number one ODI team, reflecting their strong momentum. Despite this achievement, Babar Azam stated that the team doesn't feel added pressure but rather enhanced confidence. He highlighted the hard work put in over the years and expressed the team's ambition to win both the Asia Cup and the World Cup.

Pakistan's journey in the tournament continues as they head to Sri Lanka to face India in their second Group-A match on September 2 in Kandy. The same venue will also host the final group match between India and Nepal on September 4.
