"Pakistan's skipper, Babar Azam, has clinched the prestigious title of 'ICC Men's Player of the Month' for the third time in his career. The International Cricket Council (ICC) made the announcement on Tuesday, confirming Babar's outstanding performance in August 2023.

Babar Azam's remarkable form has catapulted him to the pinnacle of ICC rankings, where he currently holds the number one spot for batsmen with an impressive 882 points. His exceptional talent was on full display when he smashed his 31st century across all formats during Pakistan's clash with Nepal in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. Notably, he achieved this milestone in just 102 innings, surpassing Hashim Amla's record of 104 innings.

This century also places Babar in esteemed company, alongside cricket legends like Javed Miandad and Saeed Anwar. He now stands just behind Younis Khan (41), Mohammad Yousuf (39), and Inzamam-ul-Haq (35) in terms of centuries for Pakistan.

Babar Azam secured the ICC Men's Player of the Month award after surpassing tough competition from his teammate Shadab Khan and West Indies' power-hitter, Nicholas Pooran. Thrilled by the honor, Babar expressed his delight, saying, "I am delighted to be named ICC Player of the Month for August 2023."

He continued, "The past month has been extraordinary for my team, and with the Asia Cup returning to Pakistan, playing in front of passionate fans in Multan and Lahore was a special experience."

Babar's stellar performances extended to the 50-over format as well. Although he faced a rare setback, failing to score any runs in the first ODI against Afghanistan, he quickly bounced back with two consecutive fifties. Notably, during the second ODI, his partnership with Imam-ul-Haq proved pivotal, contributing to a thrilling last-over victory.

With the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup on the horizon, Babar expressed his eagerness to continue delivering exceptional performances, bringing joy to millions of Pakistan fans.

In the Asian sub-continent, Babar's consistency and resilience were evident, making him a standout performer. His contributions played a crucial role in Pakistan's 3-0 series win against Afghanistan, ending on a high note with a 59-run victory in the final ODI."
