The Punjab government's announcement of a local holiday on September 7th, marking the culmination of Lahore's patron saint Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh's Urs, has sparked excitement among devotees and officials alike. This annual event, spanning from September 5th to the 7th, holds immense cultural and religious significance.

On the preceding Sunday, Punjab's caretaker Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, personally reviewed the arrangements for the Urs. The three-day celebration, commencing on September 5th, anticipates a substantial turnout of devotees eager to partake in the festivities.

The Urs promises a diverse program, featuring Mehfil-e-Sama, the distribution of milk sabeel, Naatia Mushaira (poetry recitation in praise of the Prophet), and special lectures. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for meticulous planning, urging officials to ensure the installation of a robust sound system and SMD screens to enhance the experience for devotees.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of Langarkhana, the community kitchen, and emphasized that the security and traffic arrangements must be executed meticulously to ensure a smooth event. He called for close coordination among law enforcement agencies to maintain safety and order.

During the meeting, the Auqaf secretary provided insights into the comprehensive preparations made for the Urs, covering various aspects of the event. Additionally, the Lahore CCPO (Capital City Police Officer) briefed the Chief Minister on the security plan, highlighting the measures in place to safeguard the attendees.

As the Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh approaches, the spirit of unity and devotion resonates throughout Lahore, with both organizers and devotees eagerly awaiting the grand celebration on September 7th. This annual tradition is a testament to the rich cultural heritage and religious harmony that define the region.
