Chairman PCB halts announcement of national team for T20 World Cup

Mohsin Khan, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has decided to delay the announcement of the national team. Reports indicate that during the recent meeting of the selection committee ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 squad announcement, he expressed dissatisfaction with the exclusion of certain members from the decision-making process. He stressed the importance of considering the input of all members of the selection committee, rather than solely relying on the opinions of the captain, coach, and selectors present during the England tour.

Khan emphasized the need for a comprehensive selection process that considers all committee members' views. As a result, the team's announcement will be postponed to a later date.

Meanwhile, the deadline set by the ICC for squad announcements for the T20 World Cup is approaching, with May 24 being the final date. Currently, 19 out of the 20 participating teams have already revealed their squads for the tournament.

Pakistan remains the only team yet to announce its squad. The PCB had previously indicated that the squad announcement would have been made on May 23 if the first T20 match against England had not been affected by rain.

It is important to note that the tournament is scheduled to commence on June 1st. Pakistan's opening match in the tournament will be against the United States on June 6, followed by matches against traditional rival India on June 9, Canada on June 11, and Ireland on June 16.
