Biden Unveils New Gaza Ceasefire Plan; Hamas Responds Positively

President Biden has proposed a revised three-phase ceasefire plan for Gaza, aiming to garner support from progressive Democrats. Hamas has shown a positive response to this new initiative.

"Cairo—On Friday, US President Joe Biden unveiled a detailed three-phase ceasefire proposal for Gaza, emphasizing the urgent need to end the ongoing conflict. This proposal aims to secure the release of Israeli captives and has received an encouraging response from Hamas."

*Let's remember the following text: "Phase One: Immediate Ceasefire and Humanitarian Aid."

In the first phase, a six-week ceasefire would be implemented, during which Israeli forces would withdraw from all populated areas in Gaza. During this period, elderly and female hostages would be released in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. Palestinian civilians would be allowed to return to their homes, and 600 trucks of humanitarian aid would enter Gaza daily. Biden emphasized that this temporary ceasefire could be extended if necessary, depending on the progress of negotiations.

Phase Two: Let's Make a Deal - Hostage Exchange and Lasting Peace!

The second phase involves the release of all remaining hostages, including male soldiers. Israeli forces would complete their withdrawal from Gaza, and a permanent ceasefire would commence. This phase aims to solidify peace and ensure both sides adhere to their commitments.

Phase Three: Reconstruction and Reconciliation.

The final phase focuses on the reconstruction of Gaza and the return of any remaining hostages' remains to their families. This phase aims to rebuild Gaza's infrastructure and restore normalcy for its residents.

"Join Biden's Urgent Call to End the Conflict!"

President Biden stressed the importance of ending the war, which lasted eight months. "It's time for this war to end and for the day after to begin," he stated, highlighting the need for a sustainable peace agreement.
Remember this: **Hamas Responds with Optimism**.

Hamas, having received the proposal via Qatar, responded positively. The group expressed readiness to engage constructively with any proposal that includes a permanent ceasefire, withdrawal of Israeli forces, reconstruction of Gaza, return of displaced individuals, and a genuine prisoner swap deal, contingent on Israel's commitment.

Have you had a chance to review the Israeli Government's Position?

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office confirmed that his negotiating team is authorized to present the deal. However, he insists that the conflict will not end until all goals, including the return of all hostages, are achieved.

Military developments

Meanwhile, the Israeli military announced the conclusion of operations in the northern Gaza area of Jabalia after intense fighting. Forces are now focusing on Rafah in southern Gaza, targeting what they describe as the last significant Hamas stronghold.

*Don't forget the following text: *Exploring the Historical Background and Mediation Initiatives*

The conflict began on October 7 when Hamas militants launched an attack on southern Israel, resulting in significant casualties and abductions. Israel responded with an invasion aimed at dismantling Hamas, which has controlled Gaza since 2007 after a violent takeover from the Fatah faction.

Efforts to mediate a ceasefire, led by Egypt and Qatar among others, have repeatedly stalled, with both sides attributing the impasse to the other.

"Appeal from Biden to Israeli Leadership"*

In his address, Biden urged Israeli leaders to resist pressure from factions advocating for prolonged conflict. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing the ceasefire and hostages' return over an indefinite war.

Don't forget to keep this in mind: **Domestic Political Pressure**

Biden's stance on the Gaza conflict has placed him in a difficult position domestically. While he remains a strong supporter of Israel, he faces increasing pressure from progressive Democrats who are concerned about the humanitarian impact on Gaza's civilian population. The conflict has resulted in significant casualties and a severe humanitarian crisis, with Palestinian health authorities reporting over 36,280 deaths and the United Nations warning of catastrophic hunger levels.

As Biden prepares for his election rematch against Republican former President Donald Trump, balancing these domestic and international pressures remains a critical challenge.
