"Imran Khan Calls for Reforms Amidst £190 Million Corruption Case Hearing"

 




In Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail, former Prime Minister Imran Khan spoke to journalists during a hearing of a £190 million corruption case, emphasizing Pakistan's urgent need for surgery due to the severe crises the country is currently facing.

He stated that Pakistan requires reforms, and only a government with a public mandate can bring about these changes.

According to journalist Babar Malik, Imran Khan questioned how a country that borrows loans to pay off debts can progress, lamenting that Pakistanis are investing abroad due to unfortunate circumstances.

Regarding a question, he commented that the budget was as expected from a rigged election. He highlighted that efforts were made to create an investment-friendly environment in the country, with taxes levied across the board.

Imran Khan mentioned that all control is held by the ISI and that the government would know the impact when bills arrive in June and July. He underscored that the budget had inundated professionals and the public with taxes.

The former Prime Minister alleged a large-scale fraud with the NRO, claiming legislation was enacted to protect his misdeeds. He added that cases involving Shehbaz Sharif's five, Nawaz Sharif's four, Maryam Nawaz's two, and Asif Zardari's ten cases were closed.

Imran Khan criticized Shehbaz Sharif for inviting people to sacrifice for white-collar crimes. He accused Maryam Nawaz of spending millions on her advertisements, claiming the treasury was empty.

He also mentioned changes in Adiala Jail's deputy superintendent and assistant superintendent, describing them as competent officers.

Imran Khan expressed determination to pursue cases against majors and colonels in Adiala Jail. He accused federal minister Ahsan Iqbal of insulting the judiciary by suggesting he be jailed for five years.

When asked about his meeting with Barrister Gohar Khan and why negotiations with the government were abandoned, he clarified that he did not advocate negotiations at the party level and suggested Mahmood Khan Achakzai for talks.

Regarding whether negotiations with Mahmood Khan Achakzai would be acceptable if he negotiated with the government, Imran Khan stated that they would consider it when an offer is presented.

He dismissed the possibility of negotiating with the PML-N, saying their government would collapse independently. Imran Khan criticized discussing the weather with the PML-N when the nation is focused on the judiciary.

When asked about negotiations if a representative from the establishment was appointed, Imran Khan expressed a willingness to negotiate for Pakistan's benefit, reiterating his readiness to step back if it benefits the country.

He mentioned that the government had made a pact with Ali Amin Gandapur and then broken it themselves. He also criticized the federal government for continuing with 22-hour load shedding despite claiming 12 hours.

Imran Khan pointed out that electricity theft occurs across all provinces due to preferential treatment.
