The federal government has announced stringent action against the ongoing campaign and threats targeting Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa. The law will be enforced with full strength to address this issue, declared the federal ministers in a press conference.

Government's Announcement

Islamabad (live Script- July 29, 2024): The federal government has declared its intention to take strict action against the malicious campaign and threats directed at Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa. During a press conference in Islamabad, alongside Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif stated that a slanderous propaganda campaign against the Chief Justice has been ongoing. Chief Justice Isa has been targeted for a considerable period, and the law will respond with full force against such elements. Baseless accusations cannot be tolerated, and the rule of law must prevail in the country. Threatening the Chief Justice is a direct violation of the Constitution.

Statements from Federal Ministers

Khawaja Asif highlighted that Chief Justice Isa has no involvement in the decisions being criticized, yet malicious discussions about him are being circulated, particularly on social media, inciting people against him. The state will not permit anyone to issue death fatwas. Certain individuals, driven by political motives and foreign directives, are engaging in this malicious propaganda. Allowing such actions would disrupt the state's stability.

Ahsan Iqbal, the Federal Minister for Planning, emphasized that no one is permitted to issue fatwas calling for someone's murder. He pointed out that those engaging in such actions were mobilized under a political agenda, and this incident has brought shame to the nation. Such actions provide fodder for the enemy to mock us. The country has courts, and the Chief Justice heads the judiciary, a fundamental pillar of the state. Only the courts have the authority to punish or reward individuals.

Upholding Law and Order

Ahsan Iqbal further asserted that the country is governed by its Constitution and judiciary. Terrorism, suicide bombings, and fatwa issuance have no connection with Islam. There is a consensus among religious scholars, evident from the Pakistan Message, that the state will not accept the dictation of any group. As Muslims, our beliefs are clear, and issuing fatwas on people's faith is insincere. If mobs are given authority, state sovereignty can never be established. The government will not allow such behaviors to flourish and will not permit anyone to issue fatwas calling for someone's murder.

Conclusion

The government's firm stance against the threats and campaign targeting Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa underscores its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the integrity of the judiciary. By taking decisive action, the state aims to preserve its stability and uphold the principles of justice and constitutional governance.
